There are many things that can help you paint a picture of a city: its people, food, nightlife — even the length of the queues outside overrated, trendy restaurants. Another (personally, very important) element on that long list is a city’s vintage curation.

Thanks to all the invaluable recommendations I received from the lovely New Yorkers in this community, along with some solid research of my own, I had a never-ending list of vintage gems to explore across the city before I’d even set foot in the big apple.

Mine was now a mission: to discover what New Yorkers buy, resell, and thrift.

Yes, because vintage shops in every major fashion capital I’ve visited have told me a lot about the personality of a city, and its people. In Tokyo, the curations are avant-garde with a surprising touch of Americana nostalgia.
